Jess Moskaluke | Album Art

In February of last year (2014) I was hired to shoot the new album imagery for an up and coming Canadian country music artist by the name of Jess Moskaluke. Since that time she's gone on to do a few things, like win some awards (CCMA Female Artist of the Year) and have the first single (Cheap Wine & Cigarettes) off the new album (Light Up The Night) go Gold in the charts, which I believe makes her the first Canadian female artist to do so since Shania Twain. So, she's kind of a big deal. Being that it's the first week in January so I am spending more time scheduling everything that was put on hold for the holidays than actually shooting, it's the perfect time to go through and blog some of the stuff that I missed. So, here are a few of my favourites from that shoot:

At the end of the day we also wanted to create a moodier image, which worked perfectly for the first single (Cheap Wine & Cigarettes):

{ GEAR TALK }

All of the images for this shoot were created with the Fuji X-Pro1 and either the 56mm f/1.2 or the 35mm f/1.4 and processed in LR5. Gear wise this shoot stuck out to me because it was the first time I used the X-Pro1 on a commissioned shoot, but by now everyone knows it's an awesome little camera, so the quality isn't much of a surprise. For lighting I used Einstein strobes with various modifiers, which isn't very helpful info, but if I'm being honest, I'm getting over a cold and not in the mood for a lot of typing. Questions can be asked in the comments, I'll answer as my head clears.

Thanks for reading.

Cheers -Nate
