Nathan Elson Photography – Blog bio picture
  • Welcome to the Blog.

I'm a Calgary Photographer that specializes in on-location creative portraiture. Much of my work is created using edgy and dramatic lighting combined with a variety of locations, all of which is then then tied together with the people I photograph.

In addition to the creative portraits I also take a limited number of wedding commissions per year. If you're looking for a Calgary Wedding Photographer drop me a line using the contact button in the top menu.

I travel anywhere my work takes me, so if you're not local to Calgary, let me know where you need me to be and I'll make it happen.

Have a question about photography? Email me or use my Formspring page. I'll answer everything I can.

Amber & Steven | N.E.PhotoBooth

It’s another N.E.PhotoBooth and more proof that this is the funnest photo option you can have at your wedding reception, but this time in full color with props! Here are a few of my favorites from the booth, and of course a full gallery of the rest of the booth images at the bottom. More images from Amber and Steven’s awesome Cochrane wedding coming soon!

Neil & Christy | Emerald Lake Wedding Teaser

This past weekend I shot a wedding at the Emerald Lake Lodge in BC, and it was every kind of awesome. A couple of teaser photos to prove I’m not lying.

Evan & Richelle Wedding | N.E.PhotoBooth

Although photo booths are becoming more common at wedding receptions, there are still a lot of potential clients that I meet with that are unsure as to what I am really talking about when I tell them I plan on setting up a N.E.PhotoBooth at their wedding, so I’ve decided to share one with you all.

As a photographer, a lot of the time when I was cruising around the reception, guests would see me coming, turn their heads or hide behind someone else’s, basically do whatever they could do to disappear. It seems to be a natural reaction to cameras for a lot of people, maybe if someone reading this is a psych major they can shed some light.  Regardless, the booth solves that problem by creating an environment where the guests can come to me (the booth) comfortably with a little of the awesome sauce in their bellies and hilarious photos ensue. Its a ridiculous amount of fun for me, and the bride and groom get a great way to document the people that came to party with them on their big day, which otherwise would likely not have happened without the booth.

Enjoy.

Matt & Holly | Hitched

Matt and Holly are awesome, thats all I can really say about them. Since meeting these two last year I’ve been super pumped about shooting their wedding, and their big day did not disappoint. The weather was awesome, Matt and Holly were all smiles all day, and the party to end the night was brilliant. All in all, its people like this that make my job feel so little like work that I am almost feel guilty about being paid for it…ok not THAT guilty, I have a new baby mouth to feed now, but more on that later!
